“People Are People” by Christian Siriano now at The Brooks Museum

This summer, The Brooks Museum is proud to present “Christian Siriano: People Are People,” a captivating exhibition celebrating the innovative work of American designer Christian Siriano. From March 22 through August 4, 2024, Memphians and visitors will have the chance to explore Siriano’s influence on fashion and culture, right here in the heart of Memphis.

Christian Siriano: A Visionary in Fashion

Christian Siriano has made waves in the fashion industry since launching his eponymous fashion house in New York in 2008. Known for a bold approach to self-expression, Siriano’s designs have been a beacon of inclusivity, offering something for everybody and every age. The Brooks Museum’s exhibit, organized in collaboration with the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film, draws from Siriano’s rich archive to showcase pieces that have been embraced by icons.

A Tapestry of Talent: Celebrating Diversity Through Design

The “People Are People” exhibition is a testament to Siriano’s commitment to challenging and expanding the fashion landscape. Visitors will encounter a range of garments, from red-carpet gowns worn by the likes of Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga. These pieces not only highlight Siriano’s design prowess but also reflect his dedication to celebrating diversity and promoting body positivity.

Interactive Engagement: From Memphis to the Runway

Complementing the main exhibition is the interactive “Atelier to Runway” gallery, which invites attendees to dive into the fashion design process. This hands-on experience allows visitors to sketch, drape, and even walk the runway, offering a slice of the fashion world’s excitement and creativity.
