Solar Eclipse Watch Parties in Memphis

On April 8th, the moon will take a bite out of the sun, creating a partial solar eclipse visible across Memphis. While we won’t experience totality (when the sun is completely covered), Memphis has 97% coverage and some fantastic spots to witness this astronomical event.

Enjoy sky high views of the Solar Eclipse accompanied by eclipse-inspired entertainment while DJ A.D. brings her celestial beats to the famous Peabody Rooftop.

$20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 – 12. Hotel guests will have free admission – Up to two registered guests per room – with a room key. Tickets will be sold at the door.

The best place to see the solar eclipse in Memphis will be from the Memphis riverfront, with its unobstructed view to the west.

Bring your lunch – or grab a hot dog at the new Hi Neighbor Café at Tom Lee Park – and come to the Memphis riverfront.

Free solar eclipse glasses will be available to the first 100 visitors at the Hanover Family Welcome Center at Tom Lee Park starting at noon April 8.

Gaze skyward as the moon partially obscures the sun with your free eclipse glasses to see this once in a decade eclipse! Hosted by Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and Overton Park Conservancy.

Delicious lunch options from Feast and Graze will also be available for purchase. See safely: They’ll provide free eclipse viewing glasses to everyone, allowing you to safely observe the sun without harming your eyes.

The eclipse will start around 12:35 PM, but the party goes on all day! Get there early for a spot on the rooftop.
