Positively Memphis Luncheon 2024

Celebrating Positivity and Legacy at the Positively Memphis Luncheon

“History never feels like history when you’re sitting in it…This is a moment in Memphis. This is when it shifts. This is when it changes,” Mayor Paul Young reminded 250 attendees at the final Positively Memphis Luncheon at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis on Tuesday, March 20, 2024.

Pat Halloran’s Final Farewell

The Positively Memphis Luncheon was started by Pat Halloran five years ago to help build civic awareness for dynamic Memphis projects while supporting nonprofits. The reason was simple: he wanted to shift the negative narratives around Memphis by shedding light on the positives and challenging us to do the same. He wanted to foster a community that believes in the power of change through positive action. Today, we see the impact of his unrelenting determination at the luncheon. There was a spirit of hope in the air as members of the community exchanged positive stories of a shifting Memphis.

However, this year, the gathering wasn’t just any luncheon. It was a heartfelt homage to Pat Halloran, who sadly passed away February 8, 2024. The event marked a poignant moment, as it was one of the last initiatives Pat Halloran put his heart into before his passing. Even though Positively Memphis as an organization is coming to an end, his legacy continues to inspire, as evident in the $130,000 raised in his honor and distributed to 13 local nonprofits, reflecting his unwavering pursuit to better the lives of underprivileged families in Memphis.
