Buy Art, Build the Memphis Workforce—All the Wins at Art for Jobs

At Art for Jobs for Advance Memphis, picking up great art that builds a better city is as easy and satisfying as a good paint-by-number. Advance Memphis offers programs that support economic stability to our neighbors in 38126 and 38106; those are the neighborhoods around Vance Avenue and in Soulsville.

Muralist Jamond Bullock also works on canvas—Bullock will have work available at Art for Jobs from September 21-23.

Here’s all you need to know about one of Memphis’s best art events:

THIS YEAR’S FEATURED ARTISTS ARE INCREDIBLE

Each year, Art for Jobs features a few local stars, and this year they’ve got a spectacular crew. Jamond Bullock, Kurt Meer, and Whitney Winkler will headline the event, and they’ll be joined by dozens of other outstanding, local visual artists. Art for Jobs is unique among art fundraisers: artists can elect to earn a portion of the sale and donate the rest.

The result?

Everyone wins, including the buyers, who have a top-tier selection of art available for purchase!

THE MONEY RAISED GOES STRAIGHT TO PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE ECONOMIC STABILITY

Thanks to smart event management, Advance Memphis is able to create a great experience at Art for Jobs while keeping event costs very low. Why does that matter? Because that means the money raised when you buy art goes directly to the programs that support work readiness, money management, and hard skills training (like forklift driving!) to help folks earn a livable wage.

COVID IS NOT INVITED

Safety first, and Art for Jobs is not messing around. They’ve got a virtual gallery, free tickets so you can view the art in person in a very socially distanced setting (starting September 21st), and an online purchasing system. Art can be purchased here, first come, first serve, on Thursday, September 23rd, from 6-8pm.

So make your plans, Memphians. You know you have dreams to make your space sparkle, so go purchase a painting and develop that workforce while you decorate!
