Choose901 Alumni Spotlight: Zaria Greer

Zaria Greer graduated from Compass Midtown High School in 2022 and is now a student at Tennessee State University, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management.

joining the program

The Choose 901 Alumni team visited her high school in 2021, and that’s where Zaria first became associated with the program. After hearing about the mentorship and support the program provides, Zaria thought, “This is such an amazing opportunity! As a graduating high school Senior, I was anxious about what life would be like after graduation, but knowing that I was now a part of Choose901 Alumni gave me a sense of relief.”

The Alumni program offers a mentoring relationship with graduates for 10 years after high school. “The Alumni team checks in on me through text, calls, and in person. They have been one of my support systems while at college and even came to Nashville to visit me and other Choose901 Alumni.”

career development benefits

Zaria claims the program has had a huge impact on her career development. “The Choose901 Alumni Program has allowed me the chance to network with leading companies in Memphis. They have provided me with internships, jobs, and scholarship opportunities.” Thanks to these opportunities, Zaria secured an internship with Autozone for the summer of 2024 and gained valuable contacts through the networking events by the Alumni team.

“Without the Choose901 Alumni Program, I wouldn’t have had that additional support post-high school,” Zaria notes. “The Choose901 Alumni Coordinators work diligently to find opportunities in Memphis to connect the alumni with. If I didn’t have them, I would have to do it all on my own and possibly not find as many opportunities as they have.”
