University Wind Ensemble presents “The Blue Marble”

The University of Memphis Wind Ensemble closes our season with Julie Giroux’s Symphony No. 4, “The Blue Marble”, which promises to be a remarkable and inspiring experience. This symphony, accompanied by a film, results from a unique collaboration blending music and visuals to create a multisensory journey.

The symphony’s title, “The Blue Marble,” alludes to the famous photograph of Earth taken during the Apollo 17 mission. Likewise, Giroux’s musical work aims to reflect the magnificence and diversity of our world. Her symphony takes listeners on a sonic voyage, immersing them in an evocative musical landscape that captures the essence of Earth’s beauty, vitality, and interconnectedness. Accompanying the symphony is a visual component created by ION Concert Media. This collaboration merges the power of music with stunning visuals, enhances the audience’s emotional connection to the music and reinforces the message of unity and appreciation for our world.

Join us for a profound musical journey that celebrates the beauty and interconnectedness of our world.
