‘China Blues: The World in Blue and White ‘

For nearly a millennium, China has produced blue-and-white porcelains coveted far and wide—from the sultans of the Ottoman Empire to European royalty. These porcelain wares were distributed across the world through the Maritime Silk Road and inspired potters globally to emulate this style. China Blues focuses on the fashion for blue and white ware, synonymous with exquisite quality and royal patronage, and explores the cross-cultural exchange between Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The exhibition is curated by Joy Beckman, Professor and George S. Parker II Chair in Art History, and Director of the Wright Museum of Art, Wisconsin. Major support provided by the E. Rhodes and Leona Carpenter Foundation.
