Internships at Shelby Farms Park are a way for talented college students to do more than interact with professionals in fields that interest them – our internships serve as gateways for students to partake in making the vision that we have for our Park a reality. Our vision is to give rise to a celebrated 21st century park that defines and shapes a great city.

Title

Sales + Events Intern

The Sales + Events Intern will assist our team in all aspects of planning and implementing the Park’s major fundraising events; including data management, managing strict timelines, coordinating with sponsors, and more.
The Intern will also assist the Sales + Events Team to maintain a premier event venue at Shelby Farms Park by helping with the promotion, preparation, and upkeep of event spaces. The Sales + Events Intern will be an integral piece of this team and their mission to offer high quality services to our clients.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Assisting the Sales + Events team as needed with contracts and generation of documents Assist with detailing of events and ensuring that all timelines are being met on the day of event Attend team planning meetings
Assist in procuring and managing event supplies
Assist in set-up and tear-down of events
Other duties as needed to support the park’s various fundraising initiatives

Desired Qualifications + Requirements

Outgoing personality with strong communication and people skills Experience with Microsoft Office + Video Conferencing
Strong organizational skills
Ability to schedule and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work remotely and in person

Driver’s license & personal vehicle
Previous event/group sales, banquets, catering experience a plus

Education + Experience

Current college student
Majors with coursework in project management, event planning, and nonprofit management preferred

Physical Demands + Working Environment

Must be able to work in a typical office environment as well as outdoors in various weather conditions Must be able to lift 30+lbs

Hours + Duration of Internship

As specified by University requirements; flexible according to the intern’s overall schedule.
