My Voice, Our Choice: Memphis YPAR Community Presentation
Join us on Tuesday, May 14th from 5 to 8pm as we showcase and celebrate a youth-led research initiative focused on addressing the challenges faced by Opportunity Youth* disconnected from school and work in Memphis – Shelby County. This event is co-hosted by Shelby County Government and Code for America and will feature a gallery walk presented by local youth researchers as they share insights, personal stories, and actionable recommendations from the “MY VOICE, OUR CHOICE” report.
Engage in meaningful dialogue and network with community members, including youth advocates and other individuals/organizations committed to fostering positive change for Memphis youth wellbeing and economic mobility, and support our local youth researchers as they share their insights on how to improve access to education, employment, and support services for all Memphis youth and young adults.
This event is free to attend and open to all, but registration is required. Register now: bit.ly/MVOCEvent
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Over the past six months, a group of local youth researchers engaged with over 300 community members, including Opportunity Youth (OY), service providers, and trusted adults, to identify possible solutions to OY’s most pressing challenges to improve and increase connection to education, employment, and social support service opportunities.
* OY are young adults between the ages of 16-24 that are persistently disconnected from school and work.
