Heights Line Ribbon-Tying Ceremony

The Heights Line Ribbon Tying Ceremony to Inaugurate Faxon to Macon Section

When: Friday April 26th 2:00-4:00pm

Where: 761 National St. Memphis TN, 38122

The Heights neighborhood is abuzz with excitement as the inaugural Ribbon Tying Ceremony for The Heights Line is set to take place on Friday, April 26th at 2 pm. This special event marks the opening of the first section of The Heights Line linear park, stretching from Faxon to Macon.

This event marks a significant milestone in the development of The Heights Line, a resident-led park project aimed at enhancing connectivity and promoting a vibrant community atmosphere. Neighbors, stakeholders, and local officials will gather to celebrate this achievement and its community enrichment. The reason the neighborhood chose to do a ribbon-tying ceremony instead of a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony is to symbolize the bringing together of two parts of our community that were historically divided by red-lining.

Following the ribbon tying at 2:00 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to partake in a range of fun activities lined up along The Heights Line and Junior League Plaza at Lamphier until 4:00 PM. With live music and small business vendors from the neighborhood, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

“We are thrilled to commemorate the official opening of this first section of The Heights Line,” said Jared Myers, Executive Director of the Heights CDC. “This project represents a collaborative effort to create a vibrant, accessible space for our community to enjoy.”

The Heights Line is a testament to the ongoing commitment to sustainable urban development and community engagement in Memphis. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to join in the celebration and experience the new amenities offered by The Heights Line which is also Memphis’ newest city park!
