Friends of George’s Presents: “Out in the Woods: FOG Fairytales”
Friends of George’s, an LGBTQ+ non-profit theatre company in Memphis, unveils its newest, original show: Out in The Woods: FOG Fairy Tales. This comedic variety show features drag performers spinning classic fairy tales into a deconstructed spectacle of hilarity and high heels in the style of pantomime theatre.
Written and produced by the Friends of George’s company members and directed by the acclaimed Irene Crist, Out in The Woods promises an unforgettable night where fairy tales come to life with a satirical storyline. Each ticket sold will also support Love Doesn’t Hurt, a non-profit championing the pursuit of a world free from relationship violence.
In 2023, Friends of George’s was recognized nationally by the Dramatists Guild and its Legal Defense Fund, the Actors Equity Association, The Stonewall Inn, and Condé Nast’s Them magazine for their victorious legal battle against Tennessee in which a federal court ruled that the state’s drag ban was unconstitutional. That decision is currently under review by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
