The Zebra Lounge, a new Memphis piano bar is now open at 2114 Trimble Pl in Overton Square, across from the Parking Garage (at the south end of the walkway between Babalu and Sweet Noshings). The Zebra Lounge will feature live music by Memphis musicians seven nights a week.
The original Zebra Lounge, founded in 1929 in Chicago, holds the third oldest liquor license in the city. Known for secret celebrity drop-ins over the years, the bar is regularly packed with an eclectic mix of regulars, newcomers, socialites and music junkies. The Zebra Lounge Memphis team includes: Steve Kouba (Piano and all-around-musical extraordinaire), Tamara Goldstein (A “lifer” restaurant gal), and Michael Vaughn (the current and amazing Zebra Lounge Chicago owner).
“We chose Memphis for our second location because of its authentic music history,” says Owner Michael Vaughn. “My partners, Steven Kouba and Tamara Goldstein, and I agree that Memphis definitely has powerful momentum, especially in Overton Square.”
The Zebra Lounge plans to recreate the intimacy and simple elegance of the Chicago location, while integrating Memphis music.
“You can request any song, any time,” says Tamara Goldstein. “The more audience interaction we have, the more fun and better experience our customers have.”
“When you think of Overton Square, you think unique…and The Zebra Lounge is one of a kind,” says Bob Loeb, CEO of Loeb Properties.
