WYXR Pledge Drive: Music and DJ Mashups Make Memphis Magic

What better way to support community radio than by donating to WYXR's work that keeps the airwaves filled with fresh tunes and informative talk shows brought to you by Memphis’ most talented DJs?

From April 15th-22nd, the WYXR Pledge Drive allows you to invest in Memphis’ musical legacy. With special in-studio collaborations and dollar-for-dollar donation matches, each time you tune in to 91.7FM—and every coin you contribute—presents an opportunity to share the city’s sound with listeners from around the world.

“Rooted in the region’s coveted blues, rock & soul, but raised by those sounds to include the future of jazz, hip-hop, house & more, WYXR stands for “Your Crosstown Radio.”

If you’ve listened to 91.7FM at all since it first launched in 2020, we bet you’ve heard something great—whether it was something new, something old, something educational—or edutaining, as Jared Boyd, WYXR Program Manager, characterizes it.

“It’s less about playing the music, and more about telling these stories and honoring these spaces, and these subcultures, and these creators, and the people who have taken their time in their years of their life to understand the music that they care about."

Between then and now, the WYXR team has not only added a diverse lineup of dynamic DJs to their weekly programming—but they’ve cared for community leaders on air, captured crowds at local music events like Mempho, introduced their very own Raised By Sound Festival, and moved Memphians to expand their music tastes.

All of this wouldn’t be possible without listeners like you.

What can you spare to keep memphis musical?
