Programming includes Sunday School class for 6th-8th grades (middle school), Coming of Age, and High School Youth Group (9th-12th grades). In conjunction with the Director of Lifespan Faith Development the Youth Coordinator also plans and implements Sunday morning youth programming with adult volunteers. The Youth Coordinator connects youth with district-wide UU events, and may attend, if needed.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for a person who is eager to work in organizations in which the dismantling of white supremacy is a high priority. Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborates with the Minister, Director of Lifespan Faith Engagement, and Family Ministry Team to plan, supervise, and present engaging youth programming for Middle and High School youth designed to develop and affirm spiritual practice and Unitarian Universalist theology while creating an atmosphere of fellowship and cohesion on Sunday mornings<br \/>\nCreates rules of engagement and covenant in partnership with the youth<\/li>\n<li>Maintains safe boundaries within all youth group programs and church sponsored activities<\/li>\n<li>Engages in individual interactions with students in accordance with the Church of the River Safer Congregations Child and Youth Safety Policy<\/li>\n<li>Communicates through social media to grow the youth program and keep youth connected to each other<\/li>\n<li>Meets regularly with the Director<\/li>\n<li>Maintains up to date registration for youth involved in the program<\/li>\n<li>Tracks weekly attendance in Breeze (church database)<\/li>\n<li>Provides attendance data and written reports as requested<\/li>\n<li>Recruits and supervises adult volunteer Youth Advisors<\/li>\n<li>Maintain effective interpersonal relationships and skilled communication with youth, parents, and congregants<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a high level of personal conduct as a face of the congregation<\/li>\n<li>Share concerns about youth with the Director and minister as needed<\/li>\n<li>Collaborates with the Director to co-lead the Coming of Age program<\/li>\n<li>Identifies opportunities for meaningful youth involvement and leadership within the congregation<\/li>\n<li>Organize and execute social youth group outings at least quarterly<\/li>\n<li>Attend and support special family events throughout the year<\/li>\n<li>Co-creates annual youth service (and bridging ritual)<\/li>\n<li>Plans and supervises social justice programming to further the living faith of Unitarian Universalist youth and to enhance the overall youth programming<\/li>\n<li>Collaborates with parents and Director in support of Youth Group fundraising activities both for the general fund and travel fund<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate, implement and\/or attend special youth events and outings, such as cons, summer camps, service trips, leadership academies, and General Assembly as identified as appropriate by Director, Youth Coordinator and\/or Minister<br \/>\nSchedules Youth calendar items on the church calendar<\/li>\n<li>Attend at least monthly (could also be semi-monthly) planning meetings during which Lead Teachers, Director, and others look at and plan curricula for the following month<\/li>\n<li>Attend Orientation and Evaluation meetings at the beginning and end of the school year<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned or as necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In accordance with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uua.org\/safe\/youth\/youth-ministry-hiring\">UUA Safe Congregations standards,<\/a> applicants who are at least 25 years of age are preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who are at least 22 years of age will be considered based on experience, qualifications, and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with teenagers<\/li>\n<li>At least one year experience, comfort and familiarity working youth and youth culture<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work with diverse people in diverse situations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to publicly articulate and teach UU values<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills, and fluency with email, Google Drive, and social media<\/li>\n<li>Patience and sense of humor<\/li>\n<li>Successfully pass the required background check<\/li>\n<li>Effective verbal and written communication in English<\/li>\n<li>Possess LGBTQ competencies<\/li>\n<li>Possess adolescent development competencies<\/li>\n<li>Ability to have healthy relationships with youth including online communications<\/li>\n<li>Ability to foster leadership in the youth<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use congregational communication systems<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be present and to be a role model<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be an active listener<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage youth dynamics in a healthy and safe way<br \/>\nPediatric\/Adult First Aid\/CPR\/AED Certification or willing to acquire upon hire<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preferred high school graduate or equivalent with some higher educational experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with children and youth with learning differences and neurodiversity a plus<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of and experience with Unitarian Universalism, and UU youth culture preferred<\/li>\n<li>Additional ideal, but not necessary, qualifications are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uua.org\/re\/owl\">Our Whole Lives (OWL) facilitator training<\/a>, and district or regional Youth Advisor Training and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uua.org\/youth\/events\/district-events\/chrysalis\">youth related trainings<\/a> (Chaplaincy, Youth Worship, Leadership Development, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Physical requirements and working conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf\u00a0 Must be available to work most Sundays &#8212; morning and afternoon, some Saturdays and
