COMPANY OVERVIEW<\/p>\n
The Stax Music Academy (SMA) is a music instruction and youth development program that uses music education and creative youth development with an intense focus on the rich legacy and tradition of Stax Records. Since opening the doors in 2000, SMA has provided high-quality after-school and summer music training and mentorship to thousands of students throughout Memphis with our SNAP! After-school Program, Summer Music Experience, and our newly formed Stax 101, a beginner group lessons program.<\/p>\n

Summary<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The job of Student Services Manager is done for the purpose(s) of implementing and maintaining student and family service in alignment with SMA goals and objectives; providing written support and\/or conveying information; and maintaining adequate staffing to ensure that objectives of programs and services are achieved. Student Services Manager will provide strategic direction for the program\u2019s many processes and oversee the student services team and team goals i.e. enrollment, recruitment, tuition, program and student schedules. This role will focus on in depth provision of services like accurate recording, gathering, and tracking student attendance and engagement with SMA.<\/p>\n

The Student Services Manager interfaces with parents and student participants to understand student health (mental, physical, socioemotional, etc.) and family dynamics as it affects the student\u2019s participation in SMA. Student Services Manager may interact as a liaison between our Mental Health provider and student\/family. This role will be a key part of monitoring and managing behavior, hosting parent meetings, as well as any corrective or actionable consequences.<\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Student Services Manager:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Administrative Services<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide informal advising to students, particularly those with personal, academic, and medical issues, and provide referrals to resources, including financial aid, tutoring, counseling, and psychological services<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Address student conduct issues and advise students about SMA expectations and policies<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Researches a variety of information (e.g. current practices, instructional materials, methods, curriculum guidelines, concerns etc.) for the purpose of developing new processes<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mediates relations among and between students<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sensitivity to student and family privacy when handling confidential information.<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Build strong relationships with families through consistent communication<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Engage parents through volunteerism opportunity and strategic integration into SMA programming<\/p>\n

Student Affairs<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Directs and oversees students services and activities i.e. tuition collection, recruitment, retention, enrollment strategies etc.<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinates key program events like Program Orientations, Family Town Halls, End of Year Ceremony etc.<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Update policies and maintain handbooks for students and staff<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Identify and\/or create systems for accurate and relevant data collection<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Facilitate and lead student and family meetings, classes, processes and off-site learning experiences for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve SMAs desired mission, goals and objectives<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and\/or gathering information required to perform functions<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Tuition Collection and Reporting<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maintain the student registration, payment, and scholarship process with the Registrar.<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist with faculty communications<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Work with the Soulsville Foundation Accounting Director to manage and track registrations to budget<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Work in conjunction with Soulsville Foundation CDO and SMA Executive Director to manage grants, scholarships, tuition assistance for program participants<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Enrollment Management<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Track all admissions metrics and provide weekly status reports to the Executive Director<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Update enrollment processes as needed to maximize efficiency<\/p>\n
\u25cb\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Processing of prospective student inquiries and their conversion to applicant status through the enrollment process<\/p>\n

Education and Experience<\/p>\n
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; in lieu of degree, 4 years experience in office management; or a combination of education and experience that totals 4 years.<\/p>\n
Must possess a valid driver\u2019s license and show proof of liability insurance coverage as required by the laws of the State of Tennessee.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Computer Skills<\/p>\n
Requires excellent PC skills; experience with Google and Microsoft Suite; aptitude and willingness to learn new software programs through hands-on use and self-study.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Compensation<\/p>\n
Benefits package includes compensation of $50,000 – $60,000\/year, full health, vacation, and 401(k) benefits as offered by Soulsville Foundation.<\/p>\n

Physical Demands<\/p>\n
Physical requirements include ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and at meetings on airplanes<\/p>\n
and automobiles, standing, climbing stairs, walking, mental pressure; lifting files, boxes, suitcases, etc.,<\/p>\n
