Wellpoint Tennessee Throws Heartfelt Baby Shower for Memphis Moms

On Saturday, October 11, Wellpoint Tennessee teamed up with local organizations to host a community baby shower at the Orange Mound Community Center bringing together over 240 attendees for a day of joy, support, and connection.

New and expecting mothers received essential baby items, enjoyed healthy food and entertainment, and most importantly, were introduced to resources promoting maternal health and family wellness.

Supporting Families Beyond the Basics

Wellpoint Tennessee president Natalie Cooper shared the organization’s vision:
“Supporting new mothers is central to building healthier families and stronger communities,” she said. “We’re empowering moms with the resources and confidence they need to care for themselves and their little ones.”

More than ten community-based partners, including Cayaba Care, were on-site to provide practical support, from parenting education to wellness tools.

Ashley Hill of Cayaba Care added, “This event shows what’s possible when we come together as a community. Every resource shared, and every connection made, helps set new moms and their families up for long-term health and success.”

Bridging Gaps, Building Futures

The event responded to real needs. According to the Tennessee Department of Health, many new moms face food insecurity and a lack of emotional support. Wellpoint’s approach aims to remove those barriers by connecting families with trusted organizations that meet them where they are.

Cooper summed it up powerfully:
“No parent should have to choose between putting food on the table and prioritizing their health.”
