Memphis families gathered Saturday at the Orange Mound Community Center for Heart and Dental Day, a family-focused wellness event hosted by Wellpoint Tennessee. The event offered free heart and dental screenings, health education, and essential supplies to help reduce barriers to preventive care and support children’s long-term well-being.
Throughout the day, families received dental screenings, heart health education, and oral care products, while caregivers connected with Wellpoint Tennessee representatives to learn more about health coverage options, preventive services, and local programs that promote whole-person health.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), tooth decay remains one of the most common chronic conditions among children. Untreated dental disease can cause pain, infection, difficulty eating or speaking, and missed school days. By bringing preventive services directly into the neighborhood, Heart and Dental Day helped families take proactive steps to support their children’s overall health and academic success.
