VHS Memphis, a locally-owned skate shop, record and clothing store, is now open at 2151 Courtland Place just off Cooper St.
The retail shop features new and used records and tapes, clothing and artwork by local, regional and international designers and artists, and skateboards and skating accessories. It is expected to serve the thousands of skateboarders in Memphis, who skate at Memphis Skate Park at Tobey Park, Altown Skatepark, and on city streets.
The concept for VHS Memphis is a modern take on the traditional local skate shop with a southern hip-hop edge. The store is an artistic, clean environment that intertwines skateboard culture with the vast music knowledge imparted by store owner Luke Sexton, aka DJ Redeye. In stock are creative brands like Theories, Magenta, Lowcard, Shake Junt, Politic, and Polar; wares, paintings and sculptures by local artists and makers; and exclusive merchandise produced in collaboration with local and nationally known music producers and rappers.
VHS Memphis is open daily from 11am to 6pm.
