Tour Broad Avenue and its merchants to sample mouth watering treats. Get your punch card for $5 from any participating retailer and collect your treat from each spot (think trick or treating). When you complete the tour, drop off your card for a chance to win a basket of Broad Avenue goodies. All proceeds will go to the Broad Ave Arts District.

The Woodruff Fontaine Museum’s First Friday event is appropriately themed “Victorian Valentine” as you relive one of the most structured rituals of the gilded age, courtship. Learn the history behind the Valentine traditions we still practice today. Beautiful gowns, lace, and a romantic atmosphere take you back to a time when courting rituals were strictly followed and marriage was a career move.  Light refreshments will be served. $15 per person and APTA members always get in free.

During the fall and winter months, Memphis Botanic Garden staff are planting thousands of bulbs in preparation for their spectacular spring flower display. You can support this labor of love with a donation in honor of your Valentine, and they’ll mail your special someone a unique card to let them know they make your heart bloom. $20 sends 1 Valentine card/$50 sends 3 Valentines/$100 sends 8 Valentines. The idea for this exhibition is drawn from the Museum of Broken Relationships, which has two locations in Los Angeles and Zagreb, Croatia. Crosstown Arts has organized this exhibition to coincide with The Break Up Show 6, taking place at The New Daisy Theater on Saturday, February 11th. During the opening reception of “We Need To Talk” on Friday, February 10th, The Break-Up Show cast will be performing a free and open-to-the-public dress rehearsal of The Break Up Show 6 next door at 430 N. Cleveland.  Exhibition Opening Reception: Friday, February 10, 5-8 p.m. Exhibition on View: February 10-February 18, 10am-6pm.

Enjoy an evening of singing and drinking in a very welcoming, non-competitive environment. Sing along to the cast recording of Hamilton: The Musical and celebrate this Tony® Award winning masterpiece. You needn’t have seen Hamilton to join in. There are two ways to get involved if you’d like to participate. After purchasing a ticket, register for a part (or four!) on the sign-up sheet to sing your favorite song as your favorite character. The link to the sign-up sheet will be emailed to all ticket buyers.  If performing a solo isn’t your thing, there will still be many chances for audience participation when the company sings. Lastly, you’re more than welcome to just come and observe all of the fun. Revolutionary War attire is encouraged. (No weaponry, please!). The soundtrack has adult language, and alcohol will be served to individuals who are 21+ with I.D.s – all ages welcome with parental discretion. $5 for members, $10 for non-members. Visit the sites of those who have loved deeply..and lost. These sometimes tragic tales of love gone wrong might leave you scratching your head, laughing, or dropping your jaw. This tour is a great gift for the Valentine in your life. Bob Barnett, Elmwood’s Assistant Director, begins at 10:30AM at the Elmwood Cottage. This walking tour takes place outdoors, so dress appropriately, and be prepared to learn about the history of Memphis in a uniquely entertaining way. The cost is $20 per person. Adults only. Advance registration is required.

Love in is the air at the Humane Society! Bring your own pooch and make a visit to their kissing booth on February 11th. For a $10 donation, you’ll receive two high quality digital images from Wildflowers Photography of you and your pet, along with a treat bag for your furry friend. All adoptions that day will receive photos and a treat bag included in the adoption fee.

This year, why not celebrate Valentine’s Day by celebrating how much love SUCKS? The Break-Up Show is back with their sixth installment of true stories of heartbreak, rejection and insanity, transforming the indignities of bad dates and break-up drama into the sort of comedy that may make you feel like it was worth the pain. Dramatic recitations of text-message breakups and online dating fails, original sketch comedy videos, bad date re-enactments, and hysterical meltdowns are simply par for the course. The stories, while totally anonymous, are 100% true and nearly all submitted by Memphians! Tickets are $20 and VIP packages are available for groups of 4 or 8. Email for more info. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic date night full of painting, music, chocolates and roses. Two people each paint one half of the painting on a 16×20 canvas to put them together and make one big beautiful picture. Reservation includes chocolates and a rose for every lady. Bring your own snacks and wine. Ice buckets, wine glasses, bottle openers, paper plates, cutlery and everything you need to create your painting masterpiece will be provided. Cost is $45.00 per person.

Grab a beverage and a friend for this special edition workshop on Valentine’s Day where you will learn to turn empty glass bottles into drinking glasses. Wine bottles work the best but you can also use liquor bottles and larger beer bottles. Get a jump start on the project by soaking off those labels at home.
