On April 25th from 5:30 pm-9 pm at the Marshall Arts Gallery, there will be a very unique photography project displayed – Unsheltered:Unseen.

Unsheltered:Unseen seeks to give members of the Memphis homeless community an opportunity for self-expression. The commission given to each artist was simply: “Use this camera to capture your Memphis.

The project’s goal is to share perspectives that are often unseen or undervalued. Hopefully something as simple as a disposable camera might challenge and enrich conversations surrounding hunger and homelessness in the city of Memphis.

The project has community partners that serve as distribution sites for the 100 cameras they pass out. These partners are More than a Meal at Idlewild Presbyterian, St. John’s Methodist Church Soup Kitchen, and Manna House.

Make sure to check out this original photography project.

Connect with the Unsheltered:Unseen project through Facebook and Twitter.
