Under One Roof will raise funds that go towards purchasing bus passes and other selling incentives for vendors, financing the printing of new issues, and investing in vests and name tags for newly certified vendors. The Bridge is run by Rhodes College students, and it employs independently contracted homeless vendors to sell papers. The vendors get to keep the profit from the papers they sell. Primarily, the newspaper focuses on homelessness and poverty, and it is only distributed on the streets of Memphis.

“The writing for each month’s paper is a collaboration between students and Bridge vendors, who are primarily people who are currently or have formerly experienced homelessness. In the paper, you’ll find stories about local, national, and international issues concerning homelessness and social justice, but you’ll also find personal stories, poetry, and art. We are so grateful for the support of Bridge customers and Memphians who invest in the city by buying Bridge papers.” – Emily Faber, Executive Director of The Bridge Street Newspaper

The Bridge is the only street newspaper in the country that is entirely student-run. There are over 70 student volunteers and 80 vendors. The Memphis readership has grown to over 6,000, and The Bridge has made over $135,000 in paper sales, which translates to food, shelter, and other necessities for vendors.
