How can you get the opportunity to experience different neighborhoods in Memphis and help out an organization that is committed to promoting a sustainable local food system at the same time, you ask?
Well even if that wasn’t your exact question, I think you could support a local non-profit and have fun doing it at this years’ Memphis Tour de Coop with GrowMemphis. GrowMemphis is an organization that partners with communities in Memphis and Shelby County offering information and resources to start and maintain community gardens, home gardens, and sustainable farms. The Tour was inspired by Memphis’ local food movement and growing urban chicken keeping.
On September 20th from 8am-1pm, bike riders will have a choice between three tours: mini, short, or long, that are 2 miles, 10 miles, and 15 miles, respectively. The starting and stopping location will be Wiseacre Brewery on Broad Avenue where you can enjoy local brew and food from the food truck the day of the tour. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person that will benefit the work of GrowMemphis.
Register here now until September 18th.
