Now is the Time. Memphis is the Place.

Throwback Thursday with the Memphis Redbirds

As the warmer temperatures approach, that also means that baseball season is starting back up! I’m honestly not a huge fan of baseball if it includes sitting on the couch and watching it from the TV. To me, it’s one of those experiential things that you need to be there for. That’s why I’m glad that we were able to go to the Redbirds Game this past Thursday at Autozone Park.

I’m not going to lie, the main draw for me to go was the all you can eat buffet. Every Thursday, which is also their Throwback Thursday every week where they wear throwback jerseys, they host an all you can eat buffet and a ticket for only $20. It changes from week to week, but when I heard it was all you can eat wings, I was all in. The buffet started at 6:00 and went until 8:00, but the game actually started at 7:00 so we were able to get there way before the game even started to get our money’s worth. It was a pretty basic buffet that included soda, wings, carrots, sauces, beans, and chips. Personally, it was well worth the money and would be a good investment for anyone trying to eat dinner and watch the game at the same time!

The best part about getting there early was that we got to get a chance to talk to one of the staff members who signed us up to do one of the races that happens at various points in the game. We chose to do the tricycle race and it was a lot of fun! It was great to go on to the infield and have our ten seconds of fame. Although it’s a bummer that I got second, I’m still glad we were able to experience something like that. We might have to go that early from now on so we can sign up and I can get another shot at it!

Overall, the stadium was really nice. My first time being there I was a little surprised at how nice it was, but it was a great experience. The seats were comfortable and the field and backdrop looked great. We weren’t even limited to the seats we actually purchased. We moved around a good bit sitting wherever we liked because it wasn’t a sold out crowd. Overall, I’d say that we had a good time and will definitely be back! Highly recommend taking advantage of these spring temperatures and get out there before it gets unbearable.
