The Second Line Goes Island Style with Hawaiian Pop-Up During Renovations

While beloved Memphis eatery The Second Line undergoes some much-needed interior renovations, Chef Kelly English is keeping the good times rolling with a Hawaiian-themed pop-up on the restaurant’s patio, serving up a tropical twist with smoked pork, huli huli wings, and more.

📍 Location: 2144 Monroe Ave.
🕐 Open daily: 11AM – 10PM
🥘 Serving: Brunch, lunch & dinner
📅 Duration: 2–3 weeks only!

🍍 Why a Pop-Up?

Let’s be real—renovations usually mean restaurant closures. But not at The Second Line.

Chef Kelly English saw the perfect chance to:

  • Spruce up the space before the busy summer season

  • Keep the team working and paid, led by longtime GM Derk Meitzler

  • And give Memphis a fun, tropical patio experience to hold us over

“We didn’t have a choice but to do this real soon. Having that back patio with a back bar, we thought we could do something fun."

🐷 What’s on the Menu?

The special pop-up menu features 10 bold, beachy items, including:

  • Smoked Kahlua Pork Bellies

  • Huli Huli Chicken Wings

  • Lomi-Lomi Salmon Dip

  • Loco Moco
  • And other tropical takes on comfort food classics

✨ A Little Midtown Magic, with a Twist

The Second Line has always been the playful, Southern sibling to its more elegant next-door neighbor, Restaurant Iris (which relocated in 2021). And this pop-up continues that spirit with unapologetically fun, a little cheeky, and full of flavor.

Chef English describes the restaurant as “a bratty younger brother to a more elegant older sister” so naturally, this pop-up is the restaurant’s tropical vacation moment.

🌞 Don’t Miss It, Memphis

This is not a permanent concept—just a quick island escape before the grind of summer heat sets in.

So whether you’re a longtime fan of The Second Line or you’ve never been, now’s the time to:

  • 🌴 Soak up the vibes

  • 🐔 Try something new

  • 🥂 Support a local team doing things right
