Memphis has long been a hotbed of basketball talent. You don’t have to look any further than names like Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry to know that basketball pedigree is part of the culture here. That’s even more clear when you see how the game permeates even more non-traditional sports routes. That’s where the Memphis Rollin’ Grizzlies come in. The team travels the region, facing other wheelchair teams.
“A lot of people are moving to this city to be a part of this movement that’s happening here. And if I went somewhere else I would feel like I was missing out.”
Justin Siebert is on the Memphis Rollin’ Grizzlies but he spends most of time in the classroom. He came through the Memphis Teacher Residency and now teaches at Collegiate School of Memphis. Hear how he says his chosen home is changing the world and learn more about MTR here.
One of Justin’s teammates and the good friend he mentions in the video is Jake Wiig. He’s here with another one our invest your life partners, Service Over Self. That organization is part of the network of people working hard to make sure homes are in good shape in some of the same neighborhoods where MTR works in schools. Hear from him about SOS and the work he’s doing in the video below.
