With all the great things going on in the 901 these days, have you ever been overwhelmed with choices? Well, you’re in luck! Every week we curate The Weekender, a post filled with a handy schedule to help you hit some of our best bets for an amazing weekend.

You can follow this schedule to a T, or use it as a launching point to plan your own adventure! The Weekender is not meant to be exhaustive, but will include our suggestions to help you plan the weekend aheadIn the case of inclement weather, check with each event’s page for updates.

Friday, September 14th

Noon – Pick up lunch at Edge Alley and join IRIS Orchestra at Health Sciences Park, do Food Truck Friday at The Dixon, or start your weekend early with 25 Cent Martini Lunch at Felicia Suzanne’s Restaurant.

5pm – Reward yourself for getting through the week with a treat from National Bakery Day @ Makeda’s Cookies.

6pm – Stick around downtown for the MLK Soul Concert Series, watch the Tigers take on the Georgia State Panthers at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, or stop by 30 Days of Opera at Overton Square on your way to dinner.

7pm – Run the Cooper Young 4 Miler , cozy up with Snowglobe and Star & Micey at The Levitt Shell, take your seat for opening night of Pipeline at Hattiloo, or cheer on the Redbirds in the PCL Championship Series.

8pm – Browse the galleries at Crosstown Arts, grab a drink in the newly opened bar, and catch A Performance by Don Lifted ft. MadameFraankie, or tackle the Mid-South Maze.

9:30pm – Get spooked at the Woodruff Fontaine 3 hr Lights Out Ghost Hunt, then calm your nerves with cocktails across the street at Mollie Fontaine Lounge.

11:00pm – Shake that thang at Pride Party with DJ Siphne Aaye, or join Absent Friends for Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Saturday, September 15th

7:45am- Learn how to get the perfect shot at the Memphis Street Photography Workshop.

8am- Treat yourself to local goods at the Memphis Farmers Market, run for a good cause during the G.E. Patterson 5k and Family Day, work out for free at Pure Barre.

9am- Come see us and all of your fave local vendors at Cooper Young Fest, kick it with some doggos at Summer Dog Fest, or take a free master class with Ekundayo Bandele.

10am- Enjoy free, family-friendly theatre at TheatreSouth.

10:30am- Get bendy and brew-sy at Crosstown Brewing

11am- Enjoy Music in the Heart of Midtown.

12pm- Shop local at Ghost River Brewing.

1pm – Drop in for live tunes, food trucks, demonstrations, and beer at Cooper York Festival at Memphis Made.

2pm- Board the Memphis Brews Bus, have a pint for your purr-fect pal at the Casual Pint

3pm- Be a part of the peace during the Be the Peace Frayser Festival 

4pm- Celebrate the Grand-opening of Global Café

6pm- Check out the Southern Edition Band at Carolina Watershed and get live during Saturday Night Live w/ the Eye2Eye Band.

6:30pm- Hear Tiffany Harmon at the Treedom Uptown Porch Series.

7pm- Jam to Cryptic Void, Dawn Patrol, and more at Hi Tone and snap because you agree during Poetic Sun at See.

7:30pm- Rock out to Burn the Witch at Meddlesome Brewing Company

8pm- Enjoy John Prine‘s folksy tunes at the Orpheum, Triple X’s rock-pop at Neil’s Music Room, and discover your favorite elixir at Elixir 2018.

9pm- Hear the glittery sounds of GGOOLLDD and the dark soul sounds of Crown Vox at Railgarten, get burned at the “You Look Like A” comedy show., or go Backsliding at the Cove.

Sunday, September 16th

2am – Stay up late with DJ Mad EFX at Printer’s Alley.

8am – Rise and shine for Coffee + Yoga

11am – Pick a brunch, any brunch: Goose Brunch w/ Wok’n in Memphis, Brunch at the Meddlesome, Bluegrass Brunch, Brunch at Ghost River

2pm – Enjoy award-winning wings and some craft beer when New Wing Order stops at the Saddle Creek Beer Garden, or go to Novel for a Special Cartooning Class with Greg Cravens

5pm – See what’s new at Aunt Lou’s, or take the family to Stomp in the Swamp at Lichterman Nature Center

6pm – Set your intentions for the week at Sunset Yoga Downtown.

7pm – Wind down the weekend at Artistik Lounge feat Doll McCoy, or make it all right with Those Pretty Wrongs at The Levitt Shell.
