The Magic of Memphis’ Live Events

When it comes to live event in Memphis, you know the feeling: The anticipation of getting tickets. The outfit planning and schedule coordination. The wait for the venue to open and then securing the perfect spot. Then the lights dim and the crowd falls silent (save for a few adoring shouts). It’s happening… the beginning of a one-of-a-kind, live event right here in Memphis.

No matter the venue, no matter the subject, there is a universal magic that accompanies any live event. Surrounded by community members, equally as hyped, you’re there for a moment that can never be duplicated.

It’s one of the only truly organic ways to have individuals with nothing else in common — career, background, political affiliation, income level, or general interest — except their attendance at a singular event.

Sure, you can see the game highlights on SportsCenter, watch the TEDxMemphis talks on YouTube, and share the feel of a concert with reels on social media, but you won’t ever get the opportunity to experience it for yourself, in living color again.

You Simply cannot replicate the feeling of:

* getting to your seat at The FedExForum in 2014 to see that the game swag was a temporary “Grizzlies” neck tattoo in honor of then-player James Johnson

* hearing musician Kirk Whalum play his iconic solo from “I Will Always Love You” to close out the day at TEDxMemphis

* your favorite band coming into the crowd, singing into your eyes, at The Overton Park Shell

* the audible pause and slow-motion feeling when you watch Lil Buck perform on the Orpheum Theatre stage

* screaming your lungs out, cheering, and hugging your seat-neighbor, whom you have never previously met, because TSU blocked the ball and James Green ran it back 90 yards to seal the win at The Southern Heritage Classic

* the anticipation and hope as you begin the countdown to the Gibson guitar drop on New Year’s Eve
