The Dreams Foundation Presents The 7th Annual Backpack Giveaway

Memphis, it’s that time again! The Dreams Foundation invites you to Tiger Lane on Saturday, July 26 from 11 AM–2 PM for a family-friendly day of purpose, music, and unity—all in support of getting young Memphians #DayOneReady!

This isn’t just a giveaway—it’s a full-on celebration of Memphis youth and the power of community.

A blue backpack, school supplies, and books are displayed on a table in a promotional poster for the 7th Annual Backpack Giveaway & Community Festival hosted by Dreams Foundation on July 26 in Memphis.

What to Expect:

  • 🎒 Free backpacks filled with essential school supplies
  • 🧠 Access to vital wraparound services including mental health, dental, and vision resources
  • 💼 Entrepreneurial, educational, and career-readiness connections for families
  • 🎶 Live music, food, games, and fun—because preparing for the school year should feel like a festival

Since its founding in 2018 giving away 5 backpacks, The DREAMS Foundation is now aiming to distribute over 1000 backpacks this year, scaling opportunity and impact across the city.

Powered by Passion: Meet Keenan Lowery

At the heart of this growing initiative is Keenan Lowery—Dreams Foundation founder, Executive Director, and OG Choose901 alum. Raised in North Memphis, Keenan’s story is one of resilience and relentless purpose. After overcoming early setbacks, he found clarity in his calling: to give others the second chance he fought so hard to earn for himself.

From earning his GED and graduating from Lane College with honors, to serving on the Obama-era White House HBCU All-Star initiative, Keenan has never stopped dreaming—and doing.

Through the DREAMS Foundation Keenan champions youth through education, mentorship, and mental health campaigns. Now serving as Communications Operations Administrator under Mayor Paul Young’s administration and recently inducted into Lane College’s 20 Under Forty Society, Keenan is living proof that faith, community, and service can change a life—and a city.

Why It Matters

Every backpack represents more than supplies—it symbolizes belief in a student’s potential and a community’s commitment to their future. By showing up to Tiger Lane, you’re showing Memphis youth that they’re seen, supported, and ready to succeed.

So, Memphis—let’s rally. Let’s rise. Let’s make sure every student is #DayOneReady!
