2. ArtsMemphis Announces Emergency Fund for Local Artists

ArtsMemphis and Music Export Memphis have launched an Artist Emergency Fund to support local creatives in times of crisis. Whether it’s medical emergencies or lost equipment, this fund ensures that artists can continue their craft without missing a beat. This initiative stems from the success of their COVID-19 relief efforts, which distributed nearly $900,000 to over 800 artists. These exhibitions offer unique perspectives on everything from Black visualization in pop culture to exploring solitude through painting.

4. Orpheum Announces Community Play Featuring Binghampton

The Orpheum’s latest community play, We All We Got: A Binghampton Play, premieres in November. Written by Ann Perry Wallace, the play focuses on the coming-of-age stories of two girls in the Binghampton neighborhood. Real-life experiences from the community inspired the play’s fictional narrative. Performances will be free!

5. STAX Music Academy Shines at “Live at the Garden”

The rock band performed on stage with bright lighting and "Foreigner" displayed in large letters above them, as fans of 901 Good News reveled in the electrifying atmosphere.

STAX Music Academy continues to make Memphis proud! Members of the Street Corner Harmonies choir took the stage with rock legends Foreigner during their performance of “I Want to Know What Love Is” at the Live at the Garden concert series. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity shows just how impactful Memphis music continues to be.

6. Memphis Ballroom Rebirth!

Ballroom culture is making a comeback in Memphis, thanks to Caleb Armstrong and his close-knit team. Their June event at Black Lodge reignited the local ballroom scene, blending fashion, art, and community. Armstrong and others are now working to make ballroom a regular fixture in Memphis, offering a space for self-expression and celebration within the LGBTQ+ community. Look out for the next event, and get ready to serve!
