Technology is changing the world everyday. At the core of those changes is the way we work.
Tech talent is needed not just in Silicon Valley but in cities everywhere, particularly here in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis is one of the world’s leading logistics hubs where the average median salary for IT Occupations is $53,995.
Are you a Memphian who wants to see Memphis develop economically in the tech sector?
Do you desire investment, training, and job connections in the tech field but haven’t had the resources to pursue this training? Ivan Alegandro Ortiz is one such Memphian who decided to pursue this career through Tech901 by completing the IT Hardware Technician Course.
Tech901 is a nonprofit organization building the Memphis technology job base by training new tech workers. Tech901 grads are prepared to take on the diverse challenges of the IT industry and provide growth resources for local employers.
Ortiz is a Memphis native whose parents migrated from Mexico shortly before he was born. He loves to eat at Bhan Thai, Los Comales, Bosses, and Memphis Pizza Cafe. You can usually find Ivan outdoors riding his bike at Shelby Farms Park, playing soccer, or checking out local events.
“Tech901 has been absolutely amazing,” Ortiz said. “I took the IT Hardware Technician course to learn about hardware components, networking, security, and hands-on experience. Our instructor taught the class with such passion that it made us work that much harder to study and learn the material. I recommend everything about Tech901, from the instructors who make the class fun and exciting, to those in the office who support and encourage our individual growth and success as well as our city.”
Like many Tech901 students, Ivan had little technical training. But after a brief glimpse into the Tech901 world, he decided it would be a great opportunity to learn something new. With Ivan’s inquisitive nature and passion for the city, Tech901 Instructor Briahna Chambers knew Ivan would find job success.
“Tech901 has helped me with my career by creating a new found interest and pursuit within an industry that is ever growing and has many paths to take,” Ortiz said.
