Stumbling Santa Pub Crawl

The only thing I think I love more than the Christmas season itself are the Santa pub crawls that normally come with them. Back in Chattanooga, there was one every year, so once I became of age, it was a tradition my friends and I cherished. Now, having moved away from Chattanooga, I of course had to look for another one!

Call it fate or whatever you think it might be, but scrolling through Facebook earlier that week I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do for my birthday weekend. Nothing really came to mind at first as I tried to figure out how I wanted to ring in my 25th birthday (yes, I already had my quarter life crisis).  I saw the Facebook event and knew I had to convince my friends to go! I mean who’s going to turn down an excuse to dress up as Santa and drink? Not this guy.

What I can appreciate though is that the pub crawl itself was sponsored by the nonprofit Porter-Leath. While certainly not required to participate, the Stumbling Santas were encouraged to bring a cash donation or unopened educational toys for young children. I get to help the community and dress up as Santa? What more could you ask for?

The plan was to meet up at the Flying Saucer to be able to see the whole crew as well as drop off the presents and donations. By 8:30, the Santas were let loose on Beale Street. There was a loose agenda of bars the crowds were supposed to go to, but with a crowd as big as 2,000 people, it would have been difficult for any bar to handle all of us. Our night led us from Jerry Lee’s, to Coyote Ugly, and finally to Tin Roof. Out of those three I’d say Tin Roof has by far become my favorite bar in Memphis. Despite the long lines for drinks, and the insanely large crowds, we were able to navigate our way around without a hitch!

I’m a sucker for events that call for dressing up and being festive, so this was one of my more favorite weekends in Memphis! We had a great time dancing the night away, and I of course have to give a big shout out to my friends who came and helped me celebrate! I wouldn’t be enjoying Memphis nearly as much if I didn’t have them. I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for any future events around town and so should you! Always stay up to date with the Choose901 website and emails and be vigilant when doing your casual Facebook browsing. You never know what you’ll be able to find.

What else am I up to? Keep up with my Year One adventures here.
