The Stax Museum of American Soul Music will host an exciting lineup of free concerts this fall.
Starting September 21st, Stax will host three concerts completely free of charge to the public. The first concert will feature local Booker T. & the MG’s tribute band, The MD’s. They’ll be playing the MG’s entire McLemore Avenue, which is itself a tribute album to The Beatles Abbey Road, from beginning to end. It starts at 6pm and is open to all ages.
The final two concerts take place in October. On the 3rd, the Stax Music Academy will be playing in tribute to the Bar-Kays lead man Larry Dodson and bassist James Alexander. On the 12th, Hope Clayburn and the Soul Scrimmage will perform with Joyce Cobb for a fun night of 70’s funk. Q&As will take place before both concerts which start at 7:00pm and are free to the public.
