Second annual event pairs basketball with back-to-school support for Memphis students
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Local students from STREETS Ministries received an exclusive FedExForum experience Wednesday during Sissy’s Log Cabin’s second annual “Back to School and Bling” event, combining basketball and mentorship with the Memphis Grizzlies. As the official jeweler of the Grizzlies and FedExForum, Sissy’s Log Cabin helped give over 30 students an up-close NBA experience while providing new school supplies for the year ahead.
Students participated in engaging games and skill sessions with Memphis Grizzlies player Jaylen Wells and Junior Grizzlies coaches, gaining hands-on instruction and encouragement while experiencing the excitement of playing in a professional setting. The experience continued off the court with dinner in the Sissy’s Log Cabin Floor Seat Lounge, where students received donated school supplies, commemorative “Back to School and Bling” t-shirts, and signed player posters.
“What makes this event especially meaningful is the way it brings mentorship and community support together in one experience,” said Eric Ballentine, executive director of STREETS Ministries. “For our students, moments like this can build confidence and leave a lasting impression as they move through the school year.”
The event builds on a series of community collaborations between Sissy’s Log Cabin and the Memphis Grizzlies that use the company’s partnership with the team to create special experiences for local youth, a tradition that has grown since Sissy’s became the official jeweler of the Grizzlies and FedExForum in 2022.
“Back to School and Bling has quickly become one of our favorite events because you can see how much it means to the students,” said Wyatt Jones, vice president and Sissy’s Log Cabin Memphis store manager. “We’re grateful to the Grizzlies and STREETS Ministries for helping us impact young people in a way that goes far beyond basketball.”
