The Memphis Botanic Garden is hosting a traditional Japanese tea ceremony on June 24th.
Learn the art of the Japanese tea ceremony also known as The Way of Tea. This ancient ritual is all about aesthetics. Japanese green tea is prepared and served in carefully choreographed movements involving the host and guests in the ceremony. This practice is heavily influenced by Zen Buddhism, giving it a spiritual aspect. The beautiful utensils and dishes used in the ceremony also add an artistic flair. The Japanese tea ceremony is more than just sipping tea. The elements of meditation and spirituality used in the ceremony has been said to help cleanse the mind and evoke consciousness.
