“Everyday will be like a holiday
When my baby, when my baby comes home”
– “Everyday Will Be Like a Holiday” by William Bell and Booker T. Jones
Well, maybe not this year…since coming home for the holiday without quarantining for 2 weeks is now against CDC recommendations. But you can take home a special gift from Booker T. for yourself or for someone special—and you can send some Soul to your loved ones’ inboxes.
First up—between now and December 1, you can enter to win a limited edition print, created by the London and Austin-based artist Tim Wakefield, and signed by Stax icon and Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer, Booker T. Jones.
Stax is celebrating #GivingTuesday with this very special giveaway. Wakefield has created artwork based on Booker T. & the MGs’ audio recording of their 1962 classic “Green Onions,” the instrumental R&B tune that helped set the stage for the future success of Stax Records and solidified Booker T. & the MGs’ reputation as the best house band in musical history.
Booker T. has autographed four original artworks and a limited edition series of 50 numbered prints. The artwork can be purchased here. All sales from the limited edition original artwork will support Stax Music Academy, but you can enter to win one of these prints valued at $200 simply by following Stax on social media.
The drawing will be held on December 2 so you have through #GivingTuesday to win!
NEED A SURE BET? It’s absolutely worth taking a chance on winning that Booker T. art, but I’m sure you’ve got more than one person on your list! When thinking about your holiday shopping, consider the kind of gift that not only shows you care, but makes an impact on your community.
This year when you give to Stax Music Academy, you get a gift in return.
The Stax Students have put together a Music Video E-Greeting card that you can send as a gift to friends and family when you make a donation. Each $25 gift sends that Gift of Soul to one recipient—and a gift of $500 means you can send Soul to your whole mailing list!
It’s the perfect gift for those you can’t be with this year. And every donation helps preserve a rich cultural legacy here in Memphis, and empowers young kids to dream and grow in that legacy.
