Serve Your City This September with Volunteer Odyssey

August felt really long. Between the heat and the waves of uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, it’s been a rough season. I’m not going to try to inspire you with a story this month, because, quite frankly, I don’t have it in me. It’s just been one of those months.

Today, I am sharing words I wrote for this blog exactly a year ago, which still ring true, about the change we’ve all experienced the past year and a half.

In 2020, I wrote “It seems that so much is out of our control; yet there is so much that we still can control. We can control how we spend our free time and how much of that time is spent giving back to the city and communities that have given us so much.”

I’m going to close by saying that even when I feel overwhelmed, Memphis shows me hope. Every time I need it—and sometimes when I don’t know I need it—Memphis reminds me that we are in this together. This month, we ask that you show Memphis that in return by volunteering some of your time.

Southern Reins for Equine Therapy, Program Volunteer Training, September 9th from 5PMto 7PM

Southern Reins Center for Equine Therapy is hosting a New Volunteer Training for individuals interested in volunteering with their program. The training is 2 hours and includes an introduction to the program, facility, and horses and hands-on training for lesson volunteers. All volunteers must attend training before volunteering. The dedication of time and talent of the volunteer corp is what makes Southern Reins such a magical place. Southern Reins is grateful to each volunteer for their contribution to the success of the program, and for joining the Southern Reins’ family to help people with disabilities throughout our community.
