Ramblin’ Joe’s Coffee Turns Freezer of Sandwiches Into Meals for Memphians During Outage

What happens when a local coffeeshop has perfectly good food sitting in the freezer during a city-wide power outage?

For Ramblin’ Joe’s Coffee, the answer is simple: Don’t throw it away. Give it to someone who needs it.

Ramblin’ Joe’s recently donated 180 sandwiches to The Room in the Inn Memphis, helping provide meals for un-housed individuals in the Memphis community.

The donation reflects two values that are deeply rooted in the Ramblin’ Joe’s brand: Giving to Those in Need & Practicing Sustainability. Food that might have gone into the trash instead became meals to serve the local community.

“We believe in giving to those in need, and we believe in being responsible with what we have,” says David Lambert, CEO of Ramblin’ Joe’s. “When we have the means to help someone, no matter what capacity, we help. And throwing away perfectly good food just doesn’t make sense. We’d much rather help someone who can use it.”

For Ramblin’ Joe’s, it is an example of what it means to be more than a place that serves coffee.

It is about being part of Memphis.
