Back in April, our sister campaign Give901 launched their fundraiser to help send Memphis kids to summer camp—and Memphians across the city stepped up for our students.
Thanks to that iconic Memphis generosity, hundreds of local kids are heading off to 3 unique and enriching summer experiences in the 901!

Summer Camp Can Make a measureable impact for students
Did you know Memphis students will lose up to one full month of school-year learning over summer break? And students from under-resourced neighborhoods will often return to school even further behind their peers.
With 61% of Shelby County students already not reading on grade level, they can’t afford a summer of learning loss.

Every student deserves an enriching summer experience, and family income shouldn’t stand in the way of that opportunity.
That’s why Give901 created Project Summer Camp! Starting Monday, April 11, we’re asking Memphians to help send over 100 Memphis kids to summer camp!
Your gift supports excellent summers for Memphis kids at 3 great programs across the city.
Learn about the project summer camp experience:
High-quality summer programs improve math and reading skills, and also build critical social and emotional skills of students.
Thanks to your support, Memphis students will have access to enriching summer programming to grow in literacy, the arts, athletics and more at Stax Music Academy, Memphis Athletic Ministries and Streets.
Here’s a look at what each of these three summer programs has to offer:
- Stax Music Academy: The Summer Music Experience at Stax Music Academy is open to all 6th-12th graders in Shelby County, providing a vibrant, educational, and fun atmosphere. The action-packed summer has students working in teams, collaborating on writing, learning, and performing music and choreography, as well as learning how music is created through audio engineering, songwriting workshops, and live performances.
- Memphis Athletic Ministries: During the summer, rising 3rd through 8th graders participate in academic lessons, recreation, life skills training, and fun field trips. Camp value is $1000 per child, but MAM charges just $50 for the whole summer. You can help send kids for free.
- STREETS: This 5-week summer program for 2nd through 9th graders includes arts & crafts, recreation, STEM academic enrichment, and field trips. Streets provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day. With your support, camp will be at no cost to the students that participate.
