Playing Memphis Escape Rooms

I have heard nothing but superb reviews about the new Memphis Escape Rooms downtown so of course, I had to check it out.

I have already told y’all how much I love the South Main Street area so I was thrilled to hear that the new escape rooms were down there, right next door to another one of my favs, The Arcade.

If you don’t already know, escape rooms are adventure games where players solve a series of puzzles using hints and clues to “escape” the room that you are locked in for an hour. The goal is to complete the series of clues before the time runs out. Typically, you play with a group of 8-10 people, but you can definitely play with less.

Each room has a different theme. The newest downtown location has two themed rooms (and the staff told me they would be growing to up to four more themed rooms), the Lost Pyramid and the Memphis Grizzlies. I have participated in escape rooms games before so I wasn’t as nervous as I was the first time I did one. It can be a little scary the first time you play, but I promise you don’t have anything to worry about.

We chose the Memphis Grizzlies Room. And honestly, I can’t really tell you much more than that 🙂 When you arrive, you are required to sign a waiver and a document stating that you will not tell anyone about what is in the room, or give away clues. Which is totally fair… otherwise, you would know how to get out and it wouldn’t be any fun! So, as I promised, my lips are sealed!

I will say, if you are as clueless about basketball as I am (I am starting to realize that isn’t really allowed in Memphis), then the Memphis Grizzlies room might not be the best option for you. Though I felt like I really didn’t contribute anything helpful to my team, we all had a really great time! Sadly, we were SO CLOSE to escaping but didn’t make it out by the allotted time. It’s okay though, even if you don’t make it out, it is still a really fun and exciting experience.

I would HIGHLY recommend the escape rooms to anyone, but especially to anyone who is looking for a team building experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful and even volunteered to take a photo of our group afterward (though I was a bit sad that we didn’t get to take that photo as winners).

What else am I up to? Keep up with my Year One adventures here.
