Pinch Me! Fall Brings Greenery to Revitalized Pinch District

It feels like just yesterday spring brought a splash of color to North Main Street, and now, fall is completing the picture by bringing vibrant plant life to the area.

Volunteers recently flocked to the Pinch District to bring a large-scale beautification project full circle, putting greenery and breathing new life into the large planters that line the street.

You may remember back in April when we covered the initial phase of this project: artist Toonky Berry leading volunteers in a hands-on workshop to paint these very structures. The newly painted planters, once blank canvases, now host lush green life, truly marking a transformation for the neighborhood.

This second successful event, the Pinch Planter Volunteer Day, was a collaborative effort with Clean Memphis, the Downtown Memphis Commission (DMC), and The Works CDC

We had an incredible turnout! Approximately 24 dedicated volunteers from HBG Design came out and worked tirelessly to plant, mulch, and beautify the Pinch District with pollinator plants.

This means we won’t see the full, beautiful results immediately, but isn’t that how community investment works?

Work + Time + Care = Results.

We’ll have more volunteer and connection opportunities coming soon!
