D. Canale and Company, who are well known around the city as a wholesaler and distributor has announced they will be opening a whiskey and vodka distillery and public tasting room downtown called Old Dominick Distillery. The facility, which will be used to both produce and bottle a line of premium distilled spirits represents a return to form for a family who has been a staple of downtown Memphis, dating all the way back to the founding of D. Canale and Co. in 1866.
Before prohibition, D. Canale and Co. was one of the largest spirits brands in the Southeast but has not been in business since 2010. The company and family is very excited to renew its commitment to the city and hopes to draw thousands of visitors every year through public tours of the distillery and the tap room.
The distillery will open at 301 South Front St near South Main and is looking to hire anywhere from 20-35 employees for both the distillery and the tap room.
