In case you didn’t know, April 15th “Tax Day” has passed, but that doesn’t matter this year because the tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15th! You also may not know about the great work that Impact America does to serve our local community with FREE (love that word) tax preparation through SaveFirst. Their Americorps Volunteers have been serving Memphis this way for years in-person at many of our community centers, but this year has required a pivot.
Through a partnership with Code for America, SaveFirst has been able to create an accessible website with most of the benefits of an in-person meeting: security, live support, quality review, and, best of all, well-deserved tax refunds at no cost.

SaveFirst recognizes that, unfortunately, a significant number of taxpayers have limited or no access to the internet. SaveFirst cannot guarantee when our sites in Orange Mound, Binghampton and Frayser will reopen, but will do their best to accommodate taxpayer needs. They are currently working on alternative solutions, such as mail-in options, to try to service as many people in Memphis and surrounding areas as possible.
