On Saturday, October 19th, The Achievement School District hosted a Neighborhoods School Fair. This gave members of the community the opportunity to ask questions in person, learn about the ASD first hand, and voice any concerns or share any questions for education in Memphis. Schools shook hands with students, parents, and involved community members throughout the day addressing all things from bell schedules to TCAP results. The ASD provided a chalkboard for people to come write questions and encouraged the public to express their opinions. This event intertwined Memphians with the schools their neighborhood could be possibly matched with.
But not to be fooled, the Neighborhood Schools Fair wasn’t all work and no play. Hot 107.1 attended to make sure it was a rocking good time. Everyone in attendance enjoyed a free lunch, and there were even fun bounces and face painting for kids! Buttercup the Duck came to visit, along with a 3-D printing machine. There was a teacher town lounge, with mini cupcakes and massages to reward all the hard work done by educators in Memphis!
The Achievement School District plans to host more Neighborhood Fairs in the future. Check their website to make sure you don’t miss the next one!
Choose901 attended and set up a photo booth for all in attendance! Educators, parents, students, and proud Memphians all posed with a note of what brought them to Memphis, their favorite thing about the Bluff City, or what kept them sticking around. Check below to see what a few Memphians wrote!
