September 26 was first recognized as National Voter Registration Day in 2012. It is not a deadline per se, it’s a day of unity in which citizens are reminded to exercise our voting right.

A 2016 PEW study showed that Tennessee is ranked 40th nationally in voter registration rate and has the lowest voter turnout rate. This new online voter registration tool should help to boost this rating.

In order to register, Tennessee residents need a current valid Driver License or state ID.
Only Tennesseeans who will be 18 years of age or older on or before the next election will be eligible to vote.
