Millington to Break Ground on Tennessee’s Largest VA Outpatient Clinic

Millington is taking a giant leap forward in its mission to become the nation’s top destination for veterans. January 7, 2025, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and city leaders broke ground on the largest VA outpatient clinic in Tennessee—a 14-acre, state-of-the-art facility set to deliver unparalleled care and resources to the region’s veteran community.

Located at 4943 W. Union Rd., the Millington VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic represents a monumental investment in the health and well-being of those who’ve served. Once completed, the clinic will offer outpatient medical care, surgeries, dental services, and a host of other resources. It will also create over 200 new jobs, further fueling the growth of Millington, the fastest-growing city in Shelby County.

A Legacy of Supporting Those Who Serve

Millington has a storied history of military support, dating back to World War I, when the Millington-Memphis Airport served as a pilot training ground. Today, Millington is home to the world’s largest inland Navy base, Naval Support Activity Mid-South, which stands as one of Tennessee’s largest employers. The new VA clinic solidifies the city’s unwavering commitment to active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families.

“Millington’s partnership with the military is part of its DNA,” said City Manager Frankie Dakin. “This clinic is another step toward making Millington the best city in the nation for military families. From jobs to healthcare, we’re building a community where veterans and their families can truly thrive.”
