Memphis Weather Update: What’s Open In Memphis Today?

After this week’s storms we hope you all are staying safe, dry, and charged up. Here is a quick list of places (mostly in the loop) you can go for food, AC, and maybe some power to charge your phones if you ask nicely. Please remember to tip well!

Essentials:

  • Kroger on Union (Midtown)
  • Kroger on Summer Ave
  • Verizon Wireless on Union has a tent set up with chargers for phones, water, & ice
  • Most places east of Highland, in West Memphis, and in Desoto County are open but call ahead
  • An emergency shelter is set up at the Orange Mound Community Center (2572 Park Avenue). Call 901-726-1690 for transportation help with American Red Cross of Mid-South and MATA. Volunteers are needed to staff the shelter (go here for more info and to volunteer).
  • nexAir will be selling dry ice Sunday from 3pm-7pm and Monday from from 8am to 12pm at 6765 Reese Road.
  • Check Airbnb for more overnight options.
  • Call MLGW at 1-800-268-8648 to report outages or DM them on Twitter.
  • Cooling stations available

Volunteers Needed:

  • Union Grove Baptist Church (2285 Frayser Blvd) – Volunteers needed, donations of flashlights, batteries, nonperishable food, ice, and water are needed
