Now is the Time. Memphis is the Place.

Memphis Residents Invited to Preview PBS Documentary

The American Cancer Society in partnership with WKNO will host a free Volunteer Expo and preview screening of the PBS documentary, Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies; a film that doesn’t officially premiere nationwide until March 30, 2015. And if you’re a Memphis resident, you’re invited.

This film directed by Barak Goodman and produced by Ken Burns  is based on Siddhartha Mukherjee’s 2010 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.” With a specific focus on patient’s real life experiences and scientific progress over the years, the three-part, six hour documentary series will air on WKNO/Channel 10 on March 30, 31 and April 1st at 8PM. Don’t miss your chance to see it first!

The documentary will be previewed in cities all over the country. In addition to making history in documentary filmmaking, the campaign will also include participation in major medical health conferences as well as making a vigorous digital footprint.

“Together, we’ll get to see how cancer started, whom it affects, and how we can eliminate it once and for all. With this much attention focused on cancer, its days are numbered.” -Sarah Bynum, field communications specialist for the American Cancer Society.
