New Ballet Ensemble and Memphis Symphony Orchestra are collaborating for a unique performance at the Levitt Shell on 9/22.

New Ballet Ensemble and School

  • When: Friday, Sept. 22 (7PM-8:30PM)
  • Where: Levitt Shell
  • Admission: Free to the public

Inspired by some of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s last written work “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community,” this presentation will be a step toward answering the question by stating “We’re going on together.”

New Ballet Ensemble will perform a narrative of the human experience, accompanied by spoken word passages and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra playing music from legendary black artists like William Grant Still,  Duke Ellington, and Marvin Gaye.

This performance continues the creative alliance between New Ballet Ensemble & School, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and the Levitt Shell that began in 2015 with Memphis Renaissance + Harlem.

Memphis Renaissance: Going on from Here is a collaborating partner of the National Civil Rights Museum’s MLK50 commemoration.
