Memphis Recap: Kylen’s 901 Day At The Unite Memphis Run

My name is Kylen, I’m a Memphian that loves going to Dixie Queen for their burgers and loves seeing Memphians come together for the community. On September 1st, at the National Civil Rights Museum, hundreds of Memphians gathered  for the 901 Memphis Unite 5K. Whether running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, everyone played a part in the energy of the day. This was more than just a race, it was a celebration of unity, community, Memphis pride, and a love for our city that makes the 901 shine.

One of the things that stood out to me most during the run was seeing so many families enjoying the day together. Some even showed up in matching outfits, which added a fun and festive touch to the celebration. It was not just about the race itself, it was about the sense of community, the laughter, and the joy of people of all ages and backgrounds coming together for 901 Day. Watching everyone cheer, run, and celebrate side-by-side was truly inspiring, and it left me motivated to not just support but actually participate in the race next year.

I had the chance to ask Justin Hash, the Head of Business Development at The Collective Blueprint, about his experience at the Unite Memphis 5k, and his excitement was clear. He shared how much he enjoyed running through downtown and along the river, calling it one of the most beautiful parts of the course. What stood out most to him was the mix of people. Everyone from young kids to runners in their 60s and beyond participated in the race. For Justin, the true highlight was seeing the community come together, cheering each other on and turning the race into a celebration of Memphis spirit.

The Unite Memphis Run is more than just a race, it is a statement that our city is committed to growth, unity, and progress. It shows that Memphians are working together to build a stronger, brighter future for everyone who calls this place home. This is something to be proud of, because every step taken in this event represents real change, real community, and real hope for making Memphis even greater.
