STAY COOL AT THE POOL: THIS SUMMER's best spots to splash around in memphis
There are so many ways to make waves at Shelby Farms Park! The Water Play Sprayground features water tunnels, spray jets, water pumps, and more fun for children 12 and under. This area of the park is open Wednesday-Monday for both morning and afternoon sessions. Tickets to the splash area are available for purchase online. Free water play sessions are offered to the public every Tuesday.
Shelby Farms also offers kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals at Hyde Lake Boat House and Pine Lake Boat House. If you bring your own non-motorized boat, feel free to set out on the waters!

YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South has several locations featuring indoor and outdoor pools! The YMCA offers swim lessons, lifeguard training, certification courses, and hosts its very own swim team. For those interested in lap swimming or water aerobics, reservations are required. Become a member of the YMCA today!
Whether you want to dip your toes, splash around, or sit back and watch, the plaza at Crosstown Concourse features a free fountain area. It’s a perfect playtime spot for you and your kids. After that, there’s tons of amazing spots inside Crosstown to grab a treat, like Sweet Magnolia Gelato Co.
Also, Crosstown Concourse features a YMCA with an outdoor pool. Feel free to dive in the waters or lounge poolside!
Located in Midtown, Peabody Park houses the Raymond Skinner community center, a playground, and a water park for everybody!
The Community Center also offers community-based recreational opportunities at their indoor pool for those with physical and mental disabilities.
The H2Oh! Splash Park is the perfect spot to keep it cool with the kids. With over 7,000 square feet of pure fun, the splash park features jet streams, water tunnels, geysers and more. Swimwear and lawn chairs welcome!

Thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield’s $5.4 million revitalization project to provide Healthy Places for healthy activites, David Carnes Park received a face-lift that resulted in the development of a brand-new playground, water park, and a Blacksmith play area—all honoring David Carnes, one of the first Black landowners in the area.
